About the Band

The complete, unabridged history of Kitsune Robot follows. Want to know more about each band member? Use the menu above and click on the name of the member you'd like to read about.

Kitsune Robot was formed in 2006 by Cira. Cira was always frustrated when she heard fantastic anime, video game, or J-pop songs but couldn't locate a karaoke track. Cira saw an anime cover band as a way to kill two birds with one stone--sing karaoke in the most awesome way possible and fulfill her dream of singing in a rock band.

It was months before there were enough band members to play actual music. Members came and went, but eventually Cira, Pali, and Dustin became the first three permanent members of the band. With Cira on vocals, Pali on guitar, and Dustin on bass, the band seemed an achievable goal. While still searching for a drummer and a keyboardist, the band began working on songs they still play today: "Cruel Angel's Thesis", "The Real Folk Blues", "Rolling Star", and more.

It would be over a year (and many flaky people) later that the band would find its first drummer: Dastin (who's name is actually Dustin, but it was easier to call him Dastin to eliminate confusion). Cira and Dastin had worked together for months on Saboten-Con staff, but not until the convention did she find out Dastin could play drums. As fate would have it, a Rock Band competition brought Dastin to the band as Kitsune Robot's first drummer.

After over a year of playing with just vocals, guitar, and bass, Dastin's drumming reawakened the passion the band felt for playing anime and video game music. However, at that first practice together, Dastin mentioned he knew a drummer that was "even better" than he was, and that he could play rhythm guitar instead. Soon, Jordan joined the band as the drummer, and Dastin moved to rhythm guitar and keyboards.

A few months later, the band rocked their first concert at Atomic Comics with Cira on vocals, Pali on lead guitar, Dastin on rhythm guitar and keyboards, Dustin on bass, and Jordan on drums. And it was awesome. Their setlist included songs such as "Ride on Shooting Star", "Hiru no Tsuki", and "Haruka Kanata". Following the show, the band held an after-party to get to know the fans and celebrate their first show.

Sadly, shortly after the concert, Dustin left the band to become an exchange student in Japan. Dastin moved to bass (saying it "was his best instrument"), which left an open position in the band again. So the search began again for a rhythm guitarist. Many guitarists auditioned for the band, but in the end, none of them lasted more than a few rehearsals.

In the meantime, the four remaining members continued rehearsing and performing. They played a standing room-only concert at Phoenix Comicon 2009, covering songs such as "Sobakasu", "God Knows", and "Airman ga Taosenai". Following the concert, the band stuck around to take photos, sign autographs, and chat with fans.

Shortly after their concert at Phoenix Comicon, the band finally found its rhythm guitarist in Charles. Charles impressed the band when he came to his first practice prepared to play half a set of the band's music. It didn't take long for the band to see that Charles had the dedication it took to become part of the band. He joined Kitsune Robot for their concert at the Arizona Matsuri in 2009, then again at Saboten-Con 2009. However, Charles's involvement in the band came to an end in May 2010, when he left the band.

Now, in 2010, the band consists of these members: Cira on vocals, Pali on lead guitar, Dustin (formerly Dastin) on bass, and Jordan on drums. The band continues to select popular and beloved anime music to add to their repertoire.
